Early to bed and early to rise.........
Here's the thing....... if you are up early, for work or family commitments, it's hard to stay up late anyway! It's a long day otherwise and you would be worn out.
Having a good morning routine sets up my day perfectly, and it's been the same for most of my adult life, because of my dogs!
Dogs need to go out for an early walk, and mine have never been the kind of dogs to want to sleep in. They are excited to start the day, keen to get on with whatever the day may bring to them.
They are also immensely excited to see me, after a night's sleep, and I have to say, their enthusiasm is infectious. I'm not sure what I would be like in the morning without those furry four-leggers, but I can imagine I wouldn't be half as productive. I'm out of bed, dressed, coat on, boots on, dogs leaded up and out of the door by 6.15am! By the time I have started walking up the road, my mind and body have woken up and sleep is definitely a thing of the past. The fresh air, (driving wind and rain) sunrise (depending on the season) bird song, sound of the waves crashing onto the pebble ridge, it's a wonderful start to the day.
Those dogs are responsible for me coming back home in a good mood, blood pumping, engaging my mind into action. They are amazing.
So, what if you don't have dogs? I struggle to imagine why anyone wouldn't have dogs at home, but that's just me. Cats can wake you up just the same, if not a little earlier in the morning!
BUT, what if you just got up a little earlier and went for a walk or jog anyway? Before you have really thought about it? Or maybe get up and do some gentle dynamic stretches or yoga?
How you start your day sets up the rest of it.
If you wake up groggy, set off slow, procrastinate, sit, lollop about, that's you for the rest of the day.
BE ENERGISED! BE an excitable Bee. BE productive and focussed, and the best way to do this is with a little morning exercise. It doesn't have to be a crazy amount, a gentle walk to wake up, but kick off your day that way and I trust you won't regret it. AND if you start your day like this, you will make the most of the hours, and eventually tire yourself out enough to get a decent night's sleep, getting to bed at an earlier hour, maximising the healing properties of the night hours.
SO.....what inspires your early morning?
