Start, as you mean to go on.
This blog ties in nicely with my 'Mindfulness Monday' post on social media this week.
You can find it on my Facebook and Linked In profiles - it's about how getting up just fifteen minutes earlier can make the rest of your day flow better.
It's about letting the 'busy' thoughts out of your head for just fifteen minutes at the top of the morning, listen to the birds, breath in fresh air and prepare for the day with a clear mind.
I kind of power my way into the day, that's the joy of having excitable spaniels as pets! I'm pretty much up and out of the door just after 6am, headed somewhere scenic with the dogs for their early walk. At the moment I'm finding the dunes and beach at Instow (North Devon) the place to go. The views are stunning, even in the variable English weather conditions, the dogs have a mix of terrains, jumping through the wild grasses in the dunes, then chasing a ball on the beach, swimming in the sea. And when they are happy, so am I.
We then return home, full of fresh air and enthusiasm, clear-headed thanks to nature, ready for food and drink.
I always start my day, nutritionally, with a glass of water prior to the dog walk, and when I return home I drink my magical mix of supergreens, ashwanganda, collagen and all sorts of other menopause-assisting supplements. I then have a cup of powdered matcha, it gives me energy, it's full of antioxidants and L-Theanine which helps remove any unwanted menopausal anxiety, leaving me calm and yet charged at the same time.
I totally endorse drinking matcha instead of coffee, you get the natural caffeine kick, without the slump that coffee inevitably brings with it. You then want another coffee because of this, and so it spirals.
I haven't always had this routine, in fact, in my unhealthier days, when I would go out and drink alcohol, it was all I could do to take the dogs for their morning yomp. The walk would wake me, mind you, and I do think gentle exercise first thing, is a good thing.
I always ask my clients about their morning routine, and I am more often than not, told that they don't have time for a healthy start! Everyone has time, get up fifteen minutes earlier, that's how you do it.
My alarm goes off at 5.50am, sounds horrendous? It's not, it makes the best of the day and takes a little of the busy away, leaving a clearer head for what is to come. If you wake up late, in a panic, stressed about time, that sets p your day for more of the same. You started it all wrong and you will have an all day struggle to get back on track, with inevitable failure.
Start as you mean to go on!
Make a simple change, just one change every week to your morning routine to make it even better.
Are you ready to change?
