Empty your mind before sleep.

 How well do you sleep?

Several, well, actually a huge amount of factors affect how well we sleep.

And, as we know, sleep aids recovery of your body and mind.

What we do before sleep affects how well and how long we sleep for, so a good night time routine counts for everything.

Turn off phones, tablets and tv sets a good hour before you sleep, reading is great, but a little meditation session is really what you need to empty your mind to get a good night's sleep.

Meditation is not easy for everyone, it takes practice, things go round and round your head and cloud your peace time. So here's a good trick to do in the evening. As with my previous blog about managing stress, you need to make sure that your 'stress container' is managed every day. If something can't be resolved that day, then write a list of things that may well be on your mind when trying to sleep, leave it somewhere safe for the morning. You cannot resolve things at night, so don't stress about it, if it's written down it won't be forgotten come the morning time and you can deal with it with a fresh head after a good sleep.

I always have a calming tea in the evening before bed, chamomile is a great and effective relaxant, soothing your body and mind, there are many other night time teas out there that work brilliantly too.

Then I take my night time supplements, Vitamin D3, K2, Magnesium, Ashwaganda and 5HTP. These natural supplements work well to give me a good sleep and also help my body too. This has helped significantly since hitting the peri-menopause stage in my life.

BUT, the most important thing is to empty your head of thoughts as your head hits the pillow, release negative thoughts and worries and watch them drift away as you drift off. You don't need those thoughts to sleep and they won't help you, just hinder sleep and your recovery.

Try this tonight, and if you need any help with more ways to meditate, or for self-hypnosis audios, then get in touch. Let me know how you get on!
