Early to bed and early to rise.........

Image
Here's the thing....... if you are up early, for work or family commitments, it's hard to stay up late anyway! It's a long day otherwise and you would be worn out. Having a good morning routine sets up my day perfectly, and it's been the same for most of my adult life, because of my dogs! Dogs need to go out for an early walk, and mine have never been the kind of dogs to want to sleep in. They are excited to start the day, keen to get on with whatever the day may bring to them. They are also immensely excited to see me, after a night's sleep, and I have to say, their enthusiasm is infectious. I'm not sure what I would be like in the morning without those furry four-leggers, but I can imagine I wouldn't be half as productive. I'm out of bed, dressed, coat on, boots on, dogs leaded up and out of the door by 6.15am! By the time I have started walking up the road, my mind and body have woken up and sleep is definitely a thing of the past. The fresh air, (dr...

When will I turn into Wonder Woman?

Image
From the very first time that I saw Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, I was in awe. I was born in the 1970's and Saturday television for me, was all about this beautiful, strong, butt-kicking woman who I really wanted to be! Role model, or hero? It doesn't matter really does it? She fought for what is right, and intimidated the baddies and had them pay for their crimes. What an inspiration for a young girl? I'm still spinning, and I like to think that every year, a little piece of me is more like my hero. If you don't aspire to be the greatest, then how will it ever happen? I will keep spinning, for the rest of my life if I have to, because that goal hasn't been reached yet, and so I continue to be the best I can be, I am currently my own version of Wonder Woman, and just maybe I have a few qualities or skills that the original didn't! The BIG point is, follow your dreams, your goals, don't let life situations or genetics get in your way! I know, I set the bar e...

Can I distract you for a moment?

Image
I am often told, or asked if I have ADHD! Mostly, by people who don't have as much energy as me, or who aren't self-employed! I'm not a fan of 'labels' so, whatever reason there is that I buzz around the place being busy all the time, as I always have, then I like it. It makes me productive. However, it doesn't mean that I don't get distracted from the serious. Sometimes, I'm out on a lovely run and suddenly realise that I've forgotten to complete a serious admin task. So, what I do is 'treat' myself. I write down a list of essential work things, and ONLY when they are done, can I do my exercise.  If you look at it as a reward for hard work, then you want to complete the chores. If things are in 'order' then distraction shouldn't happen that often. Get into a good routine every day, plan ahead and prepare, and I'm not just talking about work, you can do this in your personal life too. I am terrible when it comes to the laund...

Self-employment, a joy or a chore?

Image
Since my recent re-branding in November 2023, I have had a long think about what me and my business have been through together. It has most certainly been a labour of love, and we have fallen out on occasion too. I remember back to 2011, when I first qualified as a Personal Trainer, it was meant to be a 'hobby job' to do outside of my normal employment, but I was suddenly made redundant, and finding no work locally I took the leap to turn my passion into my career! Yep, a humongous leap! I was already working at the local sports centre, taking Boxercise classes, I had been doing this for a while and it was a good way to meet potential new 1-1 clients to build up my income. It was a slow build but every business is isn't it? You have to be patient (and broke) and eventually all the hard work pays off. I started with 2 clients, friends of mine who wanted to support me, and also get fit. Then one day at the sports centre, I was covering a class, wearing my PT hoodie (shown ab...
