Can I distract you for a moment?

I am often told, or asked if I have ADHD! Mostly, by people who don't have as much energy as me, or who aren't self-employed!

I'm not a fan of 'labels' so, whatever reason there is that I buzz around the place being busy all the time, as I always have, then I like it. It makes me productive. However, it doesn't mean that I don't get distracted from the serious. Sometimes, I'm out on a lovely run and suddenly realise that I've forgotten to complete a serious admin task. So, what I do is 'treat' myself. I write down a list of essential work things, and ONLY when they are done, can I do my exercise.

If you look at it as a reward for hard work, then you want to complete the chores.

If things are in 'order' then distraction shouldn't happen that often. Get into a good routine every day, plan ahead and prepare, and I'm not just talking about work, you can do this in your personal life too.

I am terrible when it comes to the laundry!
I am great at putting the washing on, hanging it to dry, even taking the washing down and folding it into the basket, but I can sometimes leave it in said basket for up to 24-hours before taking it upstairs and putting it away!
What's stopping me doing it straight away?
Distraction and laziness.
Now, most people wouldn't believe that I can be lazy, but this area of my life has an element of it, plus, I find it really boring, so again, returning to distraction, there is always something more exciting to be doing, like bouncing on the mini trampoline, practising the guitar. To beat distraction, structure and reward are definitely key.

WHEN I've put the washing away, THEN I can go and play on the beach with the dogs, speaking of which, maybe that's how we should be acting? Structure and reward work perfectly for them after all.
If you've been a good dog, we can go and play ball! If you've been a good dog, we can go and run through the woods!
Maybe we can learn a lot from our four-legged furry pals? They get pretty focussed, especially when a tennis ball is involved!

Anyway, enough distraction, this blog is almost done, and then I can go for a run!
You'll notice that I haven't even delved into the world of social media, mobile phones and TV! I will save that for another time!

TRY and find ways in your life to put into place structure, and reward.
