Breaking the habit.
Some of you may have seen that I'm running a special offer on a new package that I've been working on? (04/05/24 just in case you are reading this 6 years down the line!)
I've called it, 'Breaking the habit' because most of what I deal with in fitness and hypnotherapy is straight off the back of bad habits being allowed to run wild.
We all have habits, not all bad either, it is possible to create habits, because life, for us is pretty much a cycle of daily habits and weekly habits strung together.
Out of necessity I get up before 6am, not a habit, but I have to get up for work, and dog reasons! Once I've walked said dogs (definitely essential and not habit) I return to start my day mixed with habitual activity and clients.
I mix up my vitamin drink and greens in a glass, in the same order, so I don't miss anything, I take my supplements, then move on to making my matcha, another habit and so far all good ones.
I move on again, pouring water into a jug, moving it into my work area and then look through my diary at the work I have for the day. All habit and routine. I also have to say that so far, my habits have been created so I have order in my life, so nothing is missed.
WHAT would happen if I did something different though? What if I had a can of Red Bull (other highly caffeinated sugary drinks are available) every morning instead? High sugar and caffeine overloading my system, poisoning my body, eventually leading to a slump, and inevitably another highly caffeinated sugary and poisonous drink?
That would be a BAD HABIT to get into. An extremely unhealthy, body damaging habit that would eventually lead to ill-health if it carried on for long enough. That bad habit would have to go.
HOW about, if, as I used to, back in the day before I had proper respect for my body, how about I finish work, sit on my bum, switch on the tv and pour a glass of wine? Maybe I would just do that on a Tuesday? Would that hurt? Possibly not, if it was only one glass, and only on a Tuesday. But we know how cunning and evil alcohol is don't we? It would take you in, encourage you to have more than one glass, and then maybe, why not on a Wednesday and Thursday too? That would also be a very BAD HABIT to get into and like the Red Bull, would eventually lead to poor health.
BUT what if you don't drink alcohol or caffeine drinks?
I only have a packet of crisps a day, every day, not the same is it? That's not a bad habit, surely? I'm afraid it is.
High fat, spikes insulin, artificial ingredients, sugar, no nutritional value.
You still end up in a slump, consume way more calories you don't need for absolutely no nutritional worth. The OCCASIONAL packet of crisps is okay, but regular consumption, that's a bad habit.
Many of us live with these bad habits for weeks, months, even years, with our body being more and more destroyed. The chance of cancer becoming a reality, liver and kidneys working overtime to try and keep your body working well enough for you to carry out 'life.'
