What makes us happy?

I've done some pretty serious blogs lately, so I wanted to throw in a light-hearted  cleanser this week.

I'm going to tell you a little about my downtime, how I switch off from running my business.

During the time I'm working at Total Mind and Body Wellness, I pretty much do 'all the things' and to be honest, my personal life isn't very different. I have a wide and varied collection of hobbies, I don't have a lot of free time to spend on them, but they all exist in small portions when I'm not working.

My main hobby is obviously fitness! It always has been up there on the top, I'm currently mixing up the following, in no particular order........

Running - HIIT - Kickboxing - Yoga - Rebounder (mini trampoline) - jump boots - resistance and weight workouts.

Exercise keeps me fit, well and the endorphins released keep my mind happy, it also helps stave off any menopause symptoms that may be lurking about.

Another passion of mine is music, another staple from very early in my life. Aside from playing music when I work at The Voice FM on a Thursday, I love to play my instruments.
Me and my husband are currently working on a couple of his tracks together, I'm playing bass guitar with him.
I play the flute, my main and most beloved instrument, I am also teaching myself the bagpipes, and slide guitar, I was given a beautiful resonator guitar for Christmas and slide is a new challenge to me. Obviously, I practice the bagpipes when no one else is around!

Aside from exercise and music, there are so many other things I do, my spaniels are taking up a lot of spare time, particularly as one of them is only 15-weeks old. I am training him at the moment and it's hard work. I love to go on long walks with the boys, and we have a piece of land with trees and a stream that we go and play at.

And then, sometimes, very rarely, me and my husband get to spend some time together! We recently took up indoor wall climbing, it's a great activity for fitness and doing something together that's challenging, although, it annoys me, being competitive at how much better he is at it than me, that said, I love watching him on the wall, being all athletic and wonderful! I will get there in the end.....

So you see, I don't waste my down time being lazy, that said, we do sit down for about an hour in the evening to watch crazy adventure challenges on the telly, or some random silliness to get the serious issues of life out of our heads before sleep.

I've only obviously given you a brief overview today of my hobbies, I love to live life to the full, and as I am always saying, life is too short, we need to do all the things while we can.

What are your hobbies?
Do you push yourself outside of work too?
