Material pleasures, they don't last forever.

This week I am yet again following on from my 'Mindfulness Monday' social media posts about material gains.

This was inspired after a very quick shopping trip to get some paracetamol for a very persistent hormonal headache. I popped into the shop, walked past a SALES rail and ended up buying an £8 jumper that I didn't need.

I tried to justify the purchase, well, it is getting chilly now, it's sleeveless so more convenient when doing things about the house without the restriction of sleeves. All the excuses as to why I should have bought an £8 bargain jumper, well, let's call it a tank top for good measure.

You see, I don't really spend money on things unless I really need them, mostly for work too. I'm not materialistic, I don't crave the next new thing, the latest fashion, the best hair cut, I have my own sort of fashion (that involves tank tops) and I really don't care what anyone thinks of what I am wearing, or what kind of technology I own. It isn't important. WHO I AM as a person is the MOST IMPORTANT. Am I trustworthy? Am I a good person? Can I be kind every day? Am I making progress in life? Am I making the most out of my life? Am I the person that my Mum and Dad visualised growing up and becoming something? Am I striving to be the best person I can possibly be?

THOSE are the important things, my Mum doesn't care whether I have the most expensive earpod things, or the latest fashion. That is the least important thing in her eyes. The things that I have mentioned in the paragraph above, they are the important things.

What would you do if you lost everything? If your house burned down, all your clothes, your belongings gone, just you in the clothes you are wearing now. Now tell me how good a person you are without your material goods. Do you go out of your way to help others? Are you known to be trustworthy? Do people care about your opinion? Are you a GOOD PERSON? Without all the material things, who are you? Do you count in the world? Should I save you in the event of some disaster, or are you best left? HARSH eh? But I would only save people who would make the world a better place, people worthy of their existence. Are you a valid person? Are you making the world a better place, even in the smallest way that only one human can do?

You know how honest I am, and I am becoming increasingly disappointed in humans, I am finding them selfish, materialistic and lacking in human qualities, such as kindness, empathy, sympathy and trust. I am trusting less people than ever now, the fickle nature of today's humans is making me more and more sad.

Are YOU worthy of being saved?

Or have you fallen into the material trap? Like Madonna?!
