Season change

Hiya blog readers! I'm back from my little summer 'social media' break and in full force to try and help you achieve mind and body wellness.

You only have to look out the window now to see how the season is progressing, the evenings are darker earlier, it's dark when I get up for the morning dog walk again now. We are in Autumn, and soon the colours of the season will give beauty to the landscape.

With every season change I always feel it physically as well as mentally, I always feel a little more tired as the changes move from Summer to Autumn and Autumn to Winter, a bit run down, like my body is slowing down and making way for shorter days and longer nights. Our bodies haven't progressed with the times, electric lighting has been with us for years, but our bodies want to hibernate, but we push ourselves through the summer hours in the darker months.

We need to listen to what our bodies are telling us, we need to work with the season rather than against it, we need to rest in the dark hours and make the most of the light, be busy in the daytime and chill out in the night time. That's not easy when some of us work long hours, no matter what time of year it is, but when you can, do. This will ensure full mental and physical health, yes, I'm encouraging you to rest more, to take it easier, this is what our bodies do.

This does mean that we do have to push ourselves in the daytime, make the most of the light, do all the things. Walk or exercise outside when the weather is good, breath in the fresh air on the good days, make the most of the natural vitamin D when it's available, take advantage of the good days, enjoy the colours of Autumn, the smells of rotting leaves in the woods, jump in the muddy puddles and boost your natural immunity.

I love the onset of Autumn, the chilly mornings, the dew on the spider webs, the fresh bite to the breeze, it makes you feel real, getting in touch with nature at a season change is a good way to ground yourself, step away from technology, get out in the real world and just be.

Enjoy this transition, and thank you for getting back to reading my blog again. See you next week!
