What is Wellness Wisdom?
Hello again, and welcome to 'Wellness Wisdom' month at Total Mind and Body Wellness.
Today's blog is just an introduction to what I am doing on social media and in the real world this month.
I chose this topic, because I have now launched 'Wellness check ups' on my website. They have been very popular this year and are now an actual 'thing!'
Our every day wellness is so vitally important to our longevity, our quality of life, and our enjoyment of living. When we are not well, it impacts not only on us, but our dependants, friends and family too. When we are well, we are not causing bother to anyone else, and we can live the best life.
I chose October for this little project because it's the month of the old pagan new year. At school I studied paganism as part of my religious studies, yes, it's true, and I felt like the old ways suited me. To learn that what we are celebrating is nature, the seasons, the wheel of the year, things that we can see, touch, smell and take part in. It felt like the right choice for me, and I continued these studies far beyond school and still now I am learning.
There are people out there who wear a lot of black and call themselves openly a witch, just for the drama of it, but the real witches, the real wise women are the quiet ones, the ones who practice the old ways, healing, making herbal tinctures and tisanes, caring for people in a more subtle manner.
I was known as 'Debbie the witch' for many years when I lived in a small village in Surrey, people came to me to make things from the hedgerows, I suppose you could say that I looked after my village where I could, and there was a real belief in nature as magick. I then went on to another village in Devon, and eventually was nicknamed 'pub witch' for a long while when I moved to Totnes in South Devon.
Since those days I have quietly got on with my business, wellness is my number one aim when I work these days, and I am no longer 'labelled' a 'witch' thankfully, and like to use my other terms, nutritionist, coach, trainer, hypnotherapist, reflexologist and massage therapist. I am not fond of labels, but I do like a qualification!
So this month, I will be delving into the past, looking at the healing power of plants, learning about sleep, and how our health may improve if we just take on some of the old ways once more, and learn from the wise women of the village, the ones who were persecuted for caring.
This month is for them!
