The small pleasures in life will carry you through.
When I lived in my little pixie house in Totnes, I had a kitchen chalk board for my shopping list, I also had one for 'Happy Thoughts!'
I used to write on my board weekly, with something that I was looking forward to, no matter how small or insignificant it would seem to others, that thing was special to me and kept me looking forward to something.
Sometimes it may be as small as having something special for tea one day, I would write down trips away, running events, and even on quiet weeks, I would write down what I was going to watch on tv or read that week.
I don't have one of these boards in my house now as we rent, and I have to admit that I want to find a way of doing it, because that daily visual would make me smile and help me get through the day if I wasn't having the best of times.
Do you do something like this? Do you plan things to make you smile every week?
It's all very well having a big event like a holiday to look forward to, but sometimes you need something sooner than that, just a few days away.
This week, we are having cheese and jalapeno sausages in our quiche on Thursday, that's about as exciting as this week gets, but the following week I am a bridesmaid at my best friend's wedding. That is super exciting, we have been friends since we were about three, and she was my bridesmaid. That's a big excitement so sausages this week will do! Haha.
To be honest, even having an early dinner and getting a good night's sleep is a big deal to me these days, and it's the small things that stop the bad things seeming so bad.
And that is my main message, because no matter how hard and stressful the world seems to you right now, there is always a glimmer of hope, something positive in the negative, but don't let the bad things cloud your vision, they are only part of the big picture.
Find that little light in the darkness and follow it today!
