Don't put off what you can do today.
I am always using this phrase in my blogs and other social media, it's how I live my life, you have to take one day at a time for sure, but also dream, plan and execute your dreams whenever you can, because we only live once.
This time of year I get more thoughtful than other times, this is for two reasons, one is that January holds my birthday, and in particular this year I am 50! Of course I am going to get thoughtful about my life, what I've achieved and what I am yet to.
The other reason is that my Dad passed away in January 2001. He was 54 years old, that's 4 years away from where I am at now, and that is a seriously scary thought. I have always had this in my head, my Dad didn't do all the things that he wanted to in his life because he ran out of time, I don't want to run out of time, and I do believe that even if I lived to 100 years old there would still be things on my list that I wanted to complete.
This year I have a list of 50 things that I want to do when I am 50, they are things that I have never done before in my life, some of them mundane, but nevertheless they are important for me to achieve. Actually, I currently only have 30, but I will have 50 by the end of the year and I am hoping that I would have achieved at least half of them, the rest can carry over, driving a tank will be the hardest one to do I think!
Don't put off your dreams, I don't like to have to wait for good experiences, I like to do things right now! Even boring tasks I like to get done quickly, then you don't have to worry about them and you can use your time more wisely for things that you enjoy.
I suppose what I am saying is, don't waste your life being sat on your bum procrastinating. Get off of it and do something, follow your dreams no matter how old you are, there is always a way. We are given life, let's not waste it.
Every week complete something that you really want to do, don't put it off or make excuses, just get on and do it, because none of us know how much time we have on the earth, and it's inevitable that we all pass at some time, that's the only thing we really know about life.
Sounds a bit morbid today, but it's far from that, this blog is about living, taking opportunities, following your dreams, making the most of what you have been given. Now get on and do it, I'm going to!
