Enjoy what you do.
I have just been writing my podcast episode for next week, and it's about work-life balance. And as I was picking the topic to write about today, I thought I would generally mix up work and pleasure, by going through how to find peace and pleasure in all that you do.
The way to do this is obviously to completely comfortable with yourself, know who you truly are and be true to that version of you. Don't be false, don't put on airs, don't try and make yourself to be something that you aren't because of fashion or social media trends, just be yourself.
This is difficult for some, there is so much pressure from social media, particularly in the younger generation that they may never know their true selves. This makes me sad.
Finding joy in all that you do can only come with finding that joy in yourself, and that can only come with being honest with yourself about who you really are.
I am so lucky that my work now makes me happy, I get full job satisfaction from people in all aspects of my work and I love to get up every day and do what I do. This is of course because I made my hobby my job, but in all my jobs over the years I have strived for happiness in my work, and at any time that the job became a chore, then it was time to leave. In fact this happened only twice in my working life, but I stayed true to myself, and left a situation that I was no longer in control of, and no longer happy in.
So many of us go to work on a daily basis, complaining about it, not looking forward to it, and why? I just don't understand it, if you aren't happy, change something, seek out a job that you want to do, go for it and be happy. It may take time, but don't sit in a job that makes you unhappy, it's bad for your mental and physical health. Do what makes you happy, sometimes that's not always the job that makes you money, but what's better? I would say go for the smiles not the cash, peace of mind is priceless!
That's it from me today, just a short musing, and don't forget you can listen to my podcast on spotify, it's called 'All the things' and on Monday I will elaborate on how to maintain a work-life balance.
Be true to yourself.
Very very true. "Smiles instead of cash" We were discussing this just the other day on a volunteering day through work. Woodland thinning.... (Made me think of when we first met in the Bay Horse all those years ago).
