Why is wellness so important to our lives?

Image
This year (2025 as I type) I lunched a new idea as part of my business, the 'Wellness Check up.' It came about as an accident really, in theory I am doing this all the time, with not only my PT clients, but with hypnotherapy too, and the occasional reflexology client. One of my accountability clients asked me for some extra advice, and I got my notepad out and we wrote a plan, I asked about all aspects of her life, including exercise, sleep, time out, all the things, and she followed the plan, lost weight and got happier and healthier. My little brain sprang into gear and I decided that doing a complete mind and body wellness check up was a good thing for people who are a little lost on their health and fitness journey. We all know that a visit to the GP is restricted to about ten minutes, and they get more money for giving out prescriptions, so don't ask about how they can help you with your health anymore. I know many of my clients have gone to see the GP about an issue, ...

Don't let things go to waste

Make good use of everything! Humans are so wasteful, even more-so these days, everything is convenient because humans are lazy. I look at our waste every week, even in our own home, and I am super-keen on recycling as much as possible, yet still the recycling boxes are filled with waste, plastic, tins, so much packaging. I even take the soft plastics to the recycle bin at the supermarket every week, I really try my best. We get our milk from the local farm, I wash out and take our glass bottles up there to refill. I go to the health food shop in town and get supplement, shampoo and soap refills, I really do try my best, but I am only one person, and it seems looking at the bags that the gulls rip open every week that others are not so conscientious. Everyone bangs on about saving the planet, but how many people really do their best? I am not a fan of waste, I plan our meals meticulously for the week to avoid any food wastage. I was brought up to eat everything on my plate, so I'm g...

Be able to notice changes.

Today is another lesson learned from Zen teachings. Zen monks keep to routines rigidly, and one of the reasons for this is so that change is more noticeable, the subtle changes in the mind and body when there is a structure to your life. When you maintain a regular lifestyle, the slightest changes are more apparent. This is important for self-growth, the more you notice changes happening, the more you are able to control the changes that you want to make. Observing yourself in a controlled situation offers evaluation of your being, one morning you get up and feel energised, this may happen for a week, and then one morning you don't feel quite so good, why? This may be due to a shift in the moon and tides, hormones, maybe the onset of illness, but being more aware of how you feel and this change can help you deal with it easier. I am always joking about Menopause, although some say it isn't funny, but I find I sit on the side of dark humour a lot. With menopause comes a rollerc...

Season change

Image
Hiya blog readers! I'm back from my little summer 'social media' break and in full force to try and help you achieve mind and body wellness. You only have to look out the window now to see how the season is progressing, the evenings are darker earlier, it's dark when I get up for the morning dog walk again now. We are in Autumn, and soon the colours of the season will give beauty to the landscape. With every season change I always feel it physically as well as mentally, I always feel a little more tired as the changes move from Summer to Autumn and Autumn to Winter, a bit run down, like my body is slowing down and making way for shorter days and longer nights. Our bodies haven't progressed with the times, electric lighting has been with us for years, but our bodies want to hibernate, but we push ourselves through the summer hours in the darker months. We need to listen to what our bodies are telling us, we need to work with the season rather than against it, we nee...
