Spring challenges

IT'S now properly SPRING! As I drive along the roads I can see the hedgerows greening up, blossom in the trees and shrubs, it's that wonderful sign of life that we have all been looking out for all winter, that hope of long light sunny days and lots of natural vitamin D!

WITH every season change comes new challenges, ones that you want and the ones you are not so keen on.

SO what do I mean by Spring challenges then?

I am talking about setting yourself some challenges, I'm not on about battling hayfever or getting the grass cut, it's time to set a challenge to yourself to improve your health and wellness. A season change is always a good time for a new start.

MAYBE you have been thinking about stopping smoking, quitting alcohol, cutting down on processed foods and sugar? Maybe even doing a 5km run or starting up at an exercise class or gym? It is now time to start on that challenge, no excuses!

THE tools you need for a new challenge are as follows......

YOU need an achievable goal, don't set out to run a marathon when you can't even run 2km, make it a 5km run, make it reasonable.

YOU need support and accountability from positive people around you, friends and family who will support you in your challenge, even an accountability coach like myself can help with that. But make sure they are positive and have belief in you, the last thing you need is someone who will be jealous of your achievements and will try and ruin it for you, believe me, there are a lot of these people about!

YOU need an end date for your challenge, so maybe make it just a Spring challenge and find an end goal of summer, maybe June, or late May. Give it a date though so you have an end date to work with. Open ended goals never work.

MAKE the challenge positive to your life, make sure that it will enrich and benefit you in mind and body, make it count. And if you aren't sure, again maybe ask a coach like myself to help you with it, there are life coaches, wellness experts etc all over the place.

AND finally, tell everyone about it, post up pictures, facts, data, all the things, so that people can follow your progress and congratulate you on what you are doing, it also lets you know who your true friends are, the ones that are negative about your positive results will be jealous of your achievements and then you will know you are winning! Choose your friends and supporters wisely!

AND let me know what you are up to, what your challenge is, mainly because I am nosey, but I love to know that people are out there doing good things for their health and wellness. Good luck! Happy Spring challenge!
