Celebrate all occasions.


 THIS week me and my husband celebrated our 3rd Wedding Anniversary!

WE met a lot later in life, kissed a few toads, I had pretty much decided on being a spinster, but fate decided otherwise for me.

OUR anniversary was on a Monday, a usual work day, both busy, but it didn't stop us celebrating when we eventually gathered together in the evening for bangers and mash. We dressed up for dinner, as though we were going out for a meal, spent some wonderful time in each other's company and then we looked at our wedding photos, well, we started to, but there are a lot of them, over 700! 

WE had a mini celebration, took time out for joy, and this brought about me thinking that we need to do more of this.

CELEBRATE all the things, celebrate having a good day, with no idiots to annoy us, that would be a rare thing I reckon, maybe celebrate the car MOT, I know, random and maybe insignificant, but imagine if someone did ruin your day with their ignorance and stupidity, or imagine the hassle of your car not passing it's MOT, how would you feel then? So now you see, a mini celebration is in order!

MY friend, and client Amanda has her birthday this weekend so we are off to celebrate with her, that's another little merry adventure, and then we shall see what else from then on, in fact, my van is due it's MOT next week, let's hope I get a win to celebrate there.

  Working from home can be difficult for some, but I have been doing it for nearly fifteen years now. It's just a case of compartmentalising. I need an area to work from, a desk, and an area that I can transform into a virtual personal training studio at the drop of a hat! My old house was tiny, so it was really difficult, the dogs were ever-present, but they soon learned how to behave when I was training someone online. They actually learned so well, that in some of the stretch sessions they would start to get up, knowing that I would be finishing soon! Clever dogs. I have a much bigger space to work in now, and I can screen off the dogs into the other room leaving my sessions uninterrupted. My desk area is nice and light, a little chilly but I am also in the room where the woodburner is, so if I get cold I can light it, making my working space much more cosy too. Enjoy what you do.

 I have just been writing my podcast episode for next week, and it's about work-life balance. And as I was picking the topic to write about today, I thought I would generally mix up work and pleasure, by going through how to find peace and pleasure in all that you do. The way to do this is obviously to completely comfortable with yourself, know who you truly are and be true to that version of you. Don't be false, don't put on airs, don't try and make yourself to be something that you aren't because of fashion or social media trends, just be yourself. This is difficult for some, there is so much pressure from social media, particularly in the younger generation that they may never know their true selves. This makes me sad.  Finding joy in all that you do can only come with finding that joy in yourself, and that can only come with being honest with yourself about who you really are.  I am so lucky that my work now makes me happy, I get full job satisfaction from peopl...

Set boundaries.

  This blog could also be called, 'separate elements of your life,' or, 'distinguish the different elements of your life.' Whatever you want to call it, it's about making distinctions between your working life and your family time. How do you start your day? Do you immediately pick up your phone and check your emails and messages? Or do you get up, go for a walk, get a cuppa and break in to the day without technology? I always take the dogs out first thing, the only contemplation of work at this point is to make sure that I am doing everything so that I am on time for my first client. It's not until I am back from walking and the dogs are fed that I do my first social media marketing for the day.  I get it, being self-employed is so much harder to segregate, especially when your office or work space is at home.
