The importance of 'Wellness.'

Image
OCTOBER has been 'Wellness Wisdom' month, and I must admit to really enjoying it, although my business is all about wellness anyway, it's been nice to focus on how to be well, naturally. Embracing the old ways and lessons, exactly what I wanted to do, because the older we get, the wiser we are, and we can always learn, no matter what age we are at. The main thing I have been throwing about all month is that wellness is the most important thing that we can obtain, and we all have the same chances as each other to get it, it just depends on how much you want it as to how dedicated you are. I am always giving advice to people who don't take it, for whatever reason they have, but ultimately the people that don't act on wellness advice, do not really want to be well, they have given up on a decent future, and that makes me sad. When clients come to me, and follow plans, take the right supplements at the right time, do the right amount of exercise and eat in a healthy wa...

Do you have to wear purple to be a witch?!

Today is the penultimate blog as part of 'Wellness Wisdom' month, and I am going to discuss the fakes! As you may have read in my other blogs this month, I have dabbled a bit in helping people under the guise of 'village witch' not self-called but by others for a bit of fun. Helping people with their mental and physical health doesn't make you a 'witch' it makes you a kind healer. There is a big difference. I used to go to 'Witchfest' and other such events, because you could usually get some great clothes and incense there! And there is always an array of (mostly) women there, dressed in purple, being all witchy! Wearing pentagrams, various floating layers of clothing, dark eye make-up, mostly looking a bit too serious about themselves. And yes, I know I am generalising, but that's what people do eh? I hold my hands up right now and say that I was one of them, a 'purple-wearer!' I too wore a pentagram, I had a fine collection of ethereal ...

My time as a wise one.

I am continuing today with 'Wellness wisdom' month, the theme of learning the old remedies and ways to help our mental and physical health. I spent time being called a 'Village witch' when I lived in Surrey, and in particular in a village called Brockham from 2000 to 2003. The photo above was taken in 2001, it's me in Cornwall with my dog Blue and at the time I was also looking after my friend's Doberman, Keefer. I was sitting outside in the January sunshine in this photo just after visiting with Cassandra Latham-Jones. I was staying in St. Buryan for the weekend and took the chance to go and see what a 'real' village wise-woman does. Cassandra was a wise-woman at the time but has since retired, and she helped me along my journey, and mostly helped me feel not so weird and outcast about what I did. Some people say that they are a witch just to get attention, 'oh look at me! I'm a weird witchy type, it's all about me!' Well, that isn'...

The wise women......

The facts behind the persecution of men and women for witchcraft are highly redacted. The honest truth won't be out there online that's for sure, because no one wants to believe what religion was responsible for. And it wasn't just the Spanish inquisition and the Catholic Church, it was all male dominated religion. And no, it wasn't just the persecution of women, because there were men too accused of witchcraft, and it wasn't just calm friendly midwife-types that were targeted, there were some people out there doing some crazy things and practising devil-worship. The myths and legends behind the persecution are huge, and because the truth is not certain, I don't want to write things here that are not factually correct, but what I do know is that because of this persecution and vastly exaggerated gossip since, the local village wise woman has a lot to prove. The existence of a local wise woman has been wiped out by medical doctors and other specialists. But some...

What is Wellness Wisdom?

Hello again, and welcome to 'Wellness Wisdom' month at Total Mind and Body Wellness. Today's blog is just an introduction to what I am doing on social media and in the real world this month. I chose this topic, because I have now launched 'Wellness check ups' on my website. They have been very popular this year and are now an actual 'thing!' Our every day wellness is so vitally important to our longevity, our quality of life, and our enjoyment of living. When we are not well, it impacts not only on us, but our dependants, friends and family too. When we are well, we are not causing bother to anyone else, and we can live the best life. I chose October for this little project because it's the month of the old pagan new year. At school I studied paganism as part of my religious studies, yes, it's true, and I felt like the old ways suited me. To learn that what we are celebrating is nature, the seasons, the wheel of the year, things that we can see, tou...
